Case of The Week

We had an opportunity to treat a patient who had right hip pain since last 21 years. He met with an accident 21 years back following which he had right femur neck fracture. He was operated at that time for Dynamic Hip Screw(D.H.S.)

But unfortunately afterwards he developed avascular necrosis of femoral head in same hip. This avascular necrosis lead to secondary arthritis of right hip. He developed severe hip pain which prevented him to stand or walk without pain. He felt almost crippled.

Below is an image, how he presented to us.

After thorough evaluation, we planned for implant removal and Total Hip Replacement for right hip joint.  Surgery was posted on 05 August, 2016. We faced some problem with implant removal because it was implanted 21 years back. Screw design was old. But newer metal cutting drill bit helped us to remove screw head and finally implant. Total Uncemented Hip replacement performed.
